Jeep Wrangler Bolt Pattern by Generation: CJ, YJ, TJ, JK, JL and Gladiator

The Jeep Wrangler bolt pattern is 5x5 inches (5x127 mm) on the JK (2007 to 2018), JL (2018 on) and Gladiator JT (2020 on). The YJ (1987 to 1995) and TJ (1997 to 2006) use 5x4.5 inches (5x114.3 mm), and the older CJ used 5x5.5 inches. JK, JL and Gladiator wheels share the pattern, but the JK uses 1/2-20 lug studs while the JL and JT use M14x1.5.

Jeep Wrangler V8 Conversion Cost: Parts, Labor, Hidden Costs and Real Totals

As of 2026, a Jeep Wrangler V8 conversion typically costs $15,000 to $30,000 as a home build with a used engine, $25,000 to $40,000 with a new crate engine and a swap kit, and $35,000 to $65,000 or more as a turnkey job from a specialist shop. The engine is often under a third of the bill. Wiring, cooling, axles, labor and emissions compliance make up the rest.

Jeep Wrangler Diesel Conversion Cost: Real Totals, Legality and the Factory EcoDiesel

As of 2026, a Jeep Wrangler diesel conversion typically costs $15,000 to $30,000 as a home build and $35,000 to $60,000 or more from a specialist shop. Fuel savings will not repay it: in late 2026, diesel cost far more per gallon than regular gas. Emissions law is the bigger obstacle. The legal shortcut is a factory 3.0L EcoDiesel Wrangler, sold for the 2020 to 2023 model years.

Best V8 Engine Swap for a Jeep Wrangler: Hemi vs LS vs LT vs Coyote

For most Jeep Wrangler owners the best V8 swap is a Chrysler Hemi: the 5.7 for value, the 6.4 (392) for power. It is the same family as the Jeep, so the electronics integrate more easily and the most proven kits exist. GM's LS and LT engines offer the biggest aftermarket and cheap used donors, Ford's Coyote revs hardest, and for a JL the factory Wrangler 392 is often the smarter buy.
